Empty Chair Summer Camp

Empty Chair's Shakespeare Camp, for ages seven to thirteen, is now in its fourth year of operation! Running from 9 am to 3 pm, the camp offers a varietyof workshops, which in past summers have ranged from Shakespeare's World to Breakdancing, and from Movement Techniques to Playwriting. It also gives campers the opportunity to participate in every aspect of putting up a Shakespearean play, including acting, set design and construction, and the ever popular costume design. The play is then presented at the end of the session for all to come and see! This upcoming summer we are delighted to offer two sessions of camp. Each session costs $400 per camper, with an option to add extended day in the morning or the afternoon to accomodate busy schedules.

This two-week camp is intended to give elementary and middle schoolers an exciting experience with Shakespeare in performance. In the mornings, campers break into groups of five or six and engage in workshops such as drama games, Shakespeare’s World, or set painting.  In the afternoons there are rehearsals and tech work for an abridged version of one of Shakespeare’s plays which will be performed on the last day of camp.
