Empty Chair and The Folger Shakespeare Library
Thank you to everyone who made this wonderful evening possible! Check back in for more about our Folger partnership continuing this Fall!
On July 16th Empty Chair had the honor of hosting a benefit performance of Titus Andronicus on The Folger Shakespeare Library's Elizabethan Stage. The benefit performance's proceeds will go towards education, outreach, artist fellowships and fundamental needs for our company.

The performance was followed by a champagne reception in the beautiful Great Hall with refreshments provided by Georgetown Cupcake.

Empty Chair and Education at the Folger
This coming 2011 season, Empty Chair will begin its new educational partnership with the Folger Shakespeare Library. On the day of the dress rehearsal for the benefit performance of Titus Andronicus, company members will sit down with current students and alumni from Folger’s High School Fellowship Program to discuss the production as well as classical theatre from a young artist standpoint. This coming fall, Empty Chair will provide support for the High School Fellowship Program curriculum; some resident staff members (including Empty Chair Co-Founder and HSFP alum Elizabeth Nearing) will assist in workshops and facilitate discussions on classical theatre as well as the ins and outs of running a theatre company. Empty Chair is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with such an influential and inspirational organization as the Folger Shakespeare Library.Read more about our education programs
